Borer's forthcoming FUSION Biometric Fingerprint Reader will combine both a high performance fingerprint scanner and recognition engine in a one device.

FUSION supports biometrics including fingerprint and hand template technologies with the storage of the cardholder's biometric template in the smartcard itself.

Several cardholder finger profiles can be stored on one card, allowing a choice of finger into event of a contaminated or damaged fingerprint.

The finger scanning window will be water-resistant thereby eliminating one of the major problems with fingerprint readers which a wet finger cannot be recognised as the characteristic points of the fingerprint are distorted.
