Up to 500 Unilever staff may lose their jobs as sites are to close in Flintshire, Swansea, Bridgend and Slough.
200 roles could go at the company’s IT centre in Ewloe, 225 from the factory in Swansea and 25 at a distribution site in Bridgend.
The consumer goods firm plans to shut a plant in Slough, Berkshire, and around 300 contractor and third party roles are to be lost, bringing the total number of staff cuts to to 800.
Unilever has a total workforce of around 7,200 in the UK.
Amanda Sourry, Chair of Unilever UK and Ireland, says: "Like many companies today, Unilever faces the challenge of creating growth opportunities against a backdrop of very tough economic conditions in Europe.
"While Unilever is growing well in the UK and globally, it will always be necessary to make changes which raise our game and ensure our continued success. We believe these proposals would substantially strengthen our platform for long-term growth and competitiveness."
Borer's FUSION Time Recording System
With a high number of employees on payroll, using Borer's FUSION Time Recording System will help reduce management involvement and the administrative effort required to manage a time management scheme.
It is very labour intensive to manage and maintain a centrally administered or paper based flexitime system. Invariably, queries arise in relation to flexi balances and the process can become a very complicated one, particularly for the HR department. Implementing an automated time and attendance system makes things very easy for both employees and their managers alike.
