Pankaj Gupta, an engineering manager who heads up the recommendation and personalisation systems at Twitter, tweeted his followers: "Search & discovery in @twitter set to change forever after tmrw. Team – congratulations and enjoy the enormity of your impact few understand today!"
Twitter introduced a discover section last year in a bid to try and serve people relevant content from the network based on a user's interests.
The microblogging website now has more than 140 million active users who post more than one billion tweets every three days.
Search has become an crucial part of Twitter and a service the site has been developing to make it as useful as possible, allowing people find relevant and engaging content more quickly.
Technology pundits have predicted the site could make its content discovery system look a lot more like Flipboard, the popular social magazine app.
