One in three tweet about TV shows whilst watching them

The research, carried out by the Nielsen company showed that a third of people tweet about television shows while watching them, describing it as a "second screen experience".
The study also found that 35% of people who use tablet while watching television use them to look up further information about the show they are watching.
In the USA, it is estimated that a total of 121.1 billion minutes were spent on social networking sites in just one month. The number, recorded in July this year, was nearly double the 88.48 billion recorded the same month in 2011.
Deirdre Bannon, the vice president of social media at Nielsen stated that, "There are big and interesting implications and I think both television networks and advertisers are onto it."
The survey's findings revealed just how social media is increasingly pervading all aspects of people's lives. Nearly a third of people aged 18-24 reported using social media websites while in the bathroom.
The use of social media while watching television is more popular in the Middle East than in the US. The survey showed that 63% of people there regularly use the sites while watching television.
