Social media website distracts workers according to new research
17 August 2012
Too many companies have problems with employees who are distracted by social media websites during the working day according to a new research from an employee law specialist.
Bibby Consulting & Support says that a organisation with 100 employees could lose approx 16 working hours every day if each person checked texts, Tweets and Facebook for just ten minutes.
Bibby Consulting believes the main problem is the facility of evolving social media applications, employees are constantly aware of personal issues and as a result, more distracted then ever before.
Bibby Consulting are advising employers to create a policy for a social media and IT. This includes advising staff that they are not allowed to use their phones during office hours and can only turn them on at agreed breaks, with staff not being allowed to use mobiles at their desks.
