The world’s largest social network said adverts on phones accounted for 30% of the $1.24bn (£787m) of advertising revenues it generated in the first three months of the year - up from 23% in the final quarter of 2012.
Signs that Facebook is succeeding in generating advertising from mobile devices was noted by analysts as the company reported a 58% increase in first-quarter profits to $217m.
Total revenues jumped 38% to $1.46bn, beating Wall Street’s forecast of $1.44bn.
The significance of mobile advertising revenues to Facebook was underlined by its latest user figures, which showed the number of people on Facebook climbed by 23% to 1.11bn in the quarter.
However, mobile users grew at more than twice that pace and now account for 68% of all visits to the site.
