EADS plans job cuts
21 November 2013
Up to 8,000 jobs could be cut after European Aeronautic Defence and Space’s three subsidiaries merge into a new division.
Airbus Military, EADS’s military transport aircraft manufacturer, Astrium, its satellite subsidiary and Cassidian, the defence business, will merge into a new division called Airbus Defence and Space, effective next year.
CEO Tom Enders implied job cuts last month and warned of tough measures.
The move comes after failed restructuring last year due to an unsuccessful merger with BAE in the UK. BAE has also announced almost 2,000 jobs at risk earlier this month.
