AstraZeneca cut 1,600 Jobs
18 March 2013
Drugmaker AstraZeneca is to cut 1,600 jobs worldwide including 700 in the UK as part of the group’s research and development overhaul.
The company’s Cheshire base, Alderley Park will no longer carry out research and development, 1,600 roles will be relocated to their new centre in Cambridge moving the rest to either Macclesfield or overseas.
The new Cambridge centre will benefit from $500m worth of investment. The company hope to benefit from the location, tapping into their surroundings, a world-renowned centre for life sciences innovation with strong links to globally important research institutions in London.
