Amazon to open new digital media centre in London
23 July 2012
Amazon is to open a new centre in London, housing design and development teams.
Hundreds of current employees will be based at the new site, including graphic designers and software development engineers.
Amazon spokeswoman Paula Byrne says: "London is a hotbed of tech talent and testament to that fact is Amazon choosing the capital as the location for the new global digital media development centre.”
The focus at the new centre will be on creating digital interactive services for computers, smartphones, games consoles and TVs.
London Mayor Boris Johnson says: "I am thrilled to welcome Amazon's fantastic new international digital centre to London.
“We know we have the talent, the space and infrastructure to make the most of the digital economy - this will be my prime message during Games-time, as I seek to woo even more companies for the capital, delivering jobs and growth for Londoners.”
Despite the centre being designed to hold existing staff on it’s opening, Amazon commented that they are a growing company that may recruit more staff in the future.
Johnson adds: "Amazon's investment propels us well up the league table of global tech cities and we thank them for their vote of confidence."
More Flexibility in the workplace with Borer's FUSION T&A System.
Borer's Time and Attendance system is designed to offer employees more flexibility in the workplace. With more and more emphasis being placed on work life balance, organisations must define procedures to support employees.
One way to do this is by implementing flexitime by providing staff with flexible working hours to accommodate those working part-time, family priorities, covering absences and job sharing.
