Blockbuster cut 760 staff as 129 stores to be closed

Administrators to Blockbuster has confirmed that 129 stores will close over the next few weeks, with 760 staff now facing redundancy.
Deloitte announced on 19 January that there will be a phased closure of the stores, in addition to 31 which had already been put on notice of closure.
A helpline is in place and Blockbuster is running an Employee Assistance Programme to help employees who are facing redundancy find other employment.
Deloitte warned that announcements of further closures may be made in coming weeks.
Blockbuster is the third UK high street chain to enter administration, following HMV and Jessops, which announced that it would be closing all its branches.
