A Carbon Footprint measure the impact of human activity on the environment, over the full cycle of a product of service, in the form of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases.
|
Did You Know... "Electricity is one of the biggest producers of carbon emissions, so every time you make a coffee or turn the television on you are adding to global warming". |
Carbon dioxide is the main contributor of global warming, responsible for 80% of emissions from industrialised countries. The gas is released into the atmosphere primarily from burning fossil fuels: oil, petrol and natural gas. A growing population coupled with increasing demands on transport and energy, has led to emissions increasing at dramatic rates.
The Kyoto Protocol is an international agreement setting targets for industrialised countries to cut their greenhouse gas emissions. Industrialised countries have committed to cut their combined emissions to 5% below 1990 levels by 2008 - 2012.
The energy policy of the United Kingdom fully endorses goals for carbon dioxide emissions reduction and has committed to proportionate reduction in national emissions on a phased basis.
Without the need for additional Power Supply Units and Cables at every door, Borer has the Greenest Access Control System in the UK.
RoHS Directive (2002/95/EC)
As of 1 July 2006 a producer may not put new EEE, containing more than the permitted levels of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBBs or PBDEs, on the market in the EU.
The RoHS Regulations implement the provisions of the European Parliament and Council Directive on the Restrictions of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (2002/95/EC) in order to:
- Complement the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive (2002/96/EC).
- Protect human health and the environment by restricting the use of certain hazardous substances in new equipment
The Regulations do not apply for spare parts used for the repair of equipment or to the re-use of equipment put on the market before 1 July 2006.

All of our products manufactured and put on the market
after 1st July 2006 are RoHS Compliant.
WEEE Directive (2002/96/EC)
The WEEE Directive (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) came into force on 2nd January 2007.
WEEE is the fastest growing waste stream in the UK. The directive aims to reduce the amount of this waste going to landfill, and increase recovery and recycling rates.
From 1st April 2007, all EEE Borer manufacture and put on the market will be marked with a crosssed out wheelie bin. This will help separate WEEE from other waste streams.
Get Ready For The New EU Battery Directive
The EU replaces the original battery directive 91/157. Implementation date: 26th September 2008.
The newly updated European Union environmental legislation for batteries, which establishes environmental requirements for batteries and accumulators, was published in the EU's Official Journal on 26th September 2006.
