ATRACS Web works by linking the attendance and personnel data - which is held on an organisation’s central ATRACS database - to an Intranet web site. In the case of Birmingham City Council, any member of staff, with the required level of password clearance, can then access this information by simply logging on to this web site using their PC’s own Web browser. So with the minimum of administrative effort, time and paperwork, managers can review a staff member’s attendance and absence history and list those members of staff currently in attendance, on holiday or absent. The manager can then use the system to authorise absence or holidays or generate an instant roll call listing all personnel on site; invaluable in the event of a site emergency.
